You don’t have to pay the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax on suspended vehicles, but your truck is no longer suspended if it travels over 5,000 miles (7,500 miles for agricultural vehicles) during the 12 month filing period. Once your vehicle exceeds this limit, your HVUT will be due. By filing a Form 2290 amendment, you won’t face any IRS penalties for failing to pay.
With INSTANT 2290, submitting a “mileage exceeds” Form 2290 amendment is as easy as filing a regular 2290 Return. Just log into your account, and we’ll guide you through the process as we always do (and if you need assistance at any stage, our world-class support team is available to help).
